Privacy Policy

TrailMate Offroad ("TrailMate", "we", "us") is a trail riding companion app for UTV, ATV and side-by-side riders. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information — email address, username, password (stored as a secure hash), optional home location, avatar and cover photos.
Location data — GPS position while you record a ride, including in the background if you grant background location permission. Location is also used (with your permission) for weather, nearby trails, and optional live location sharing with friends or group ride members.
Ride data — routes, speed, elevation, distance, duration, and photos you attach to rides.
Vehicle & maintenance data — machines and service records you add to your garage.
Social content — trail reviews, condition reports, messages, group ride chats, and friend connections.
Subscription status — managed by Apple, Google and RevenueCat; we never see or store your payment card details.

How we use your information

To provide the app's features: ride tracking, maps, group rides, messaging, garage, weather.
To share your live location ONLY when you turn sharing on, and only with your friends or active group ride members.
To send password-reset codes and account emails (via Resend).
To manage your subscription and free trial.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show third-party advertising.

Background location disclosure

If you grant background location permission, TrailMate collects location data while a ride recording is active — even when the app is closed or not in use — so your full route is captured. A persistent notification is shown while this is happening, and recording stops when you end your ride.

Third-party services

OpenStreetMap — map tiles (receives standard tile requests).
Open-Meteo — weather and geocoding lookups.
RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play — subscription billing.
Resend — transactional email delivery.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent: account, rides, vehicles, messages, friendships and subscription records are removed.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Data is transferred over HTTPS. Access to production data is restricted to the operator of the service.

Children

TrailMate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
